A Moose Jaw man has been sentenced to 27 months in jail after he was found guilty of making and possessing child pornography.
Dallas Poole was convicted last month of taking several nude photos of a 13-year-old girl, who isn’t related to him, in early 2008.
Poole, 41, was also found guilty of possessing 1,802 images and 78 videos depicting child pornography, which he downloaded through a peer-to-peer file sharing program.
At sentencing Wednesday, Queen’s Bench Justice Janet McMurtry said the collection of graphic images and videos police found on Poole’s home computer was “repugnant.”
She added that by possessing such images, Poole and other like-minded offenders create a market for child pornography.
As part of his sentence, Poole will be required to register as a sex offender for 20 years. He will also be prohibited from places frequented by children, and banned from using a computer to communicate with people under 16.
