A former professional athlete with the Canadian National Volleyball Team, Claire Hanna has a strong sports background which she brings to the CTV Regina News team. With a focus on athletic endeavors, Claire covers the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Western Hockey League, U-Sports, and stories that impact the southern Saskatchewan sports community. Claire also does sideline reporting for the CFL on TSN.
Claire found her passion in broadcasting when she was asked to join the Canadian Olympic Team at the London 2012 Games and interview Canadian athletes. In 2013, Claire volunteered more than 500 hours at Shaw TV Calgary in order to pursue a career in sports broadcasting. In 2014, she returned to the Olympics, assisting the Canadian Olympic Committee and the CBC as a communications assistant in Sochi, Russia. Claire has also worked at Global Saskatoon, CityTV Edmonton and Newcap Television in Lloydminster, Alta.
Fluent in English and French, Claire has a Masters of Management in Business from the Sauder School of Business, and a degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of British Columbia.
Claire has volunteered her time with Sport Central, an organization which distributes sporting equipment for children in need, as well as KidSport Saskatoon.
Claire speaks English.
