RCMP are using some unusual tactics to nab speeders in Saskatchewan construction zones.

Mounties wore construction clothing instead of uniforms as part of an orange zone safety blitz launched earlier this week.

On Thursday, officers handed out 32 speeding tickets in construction zones near the north-central Saskatchewan communities of Langham, Delmas and Weykawin.

Some motorists were caught driving as fast as 110 kilometres an hour in the 60 kilometre an hour zone.

Fifteen drivers were given written warnings and one vehicle was impounded.

The traffic enforcement initiative was launched after an 18-year-old woman who was working as a flag person was hit by an SUV in a construction zone last month.
