A Swift Current man is facing charges after police seized nearly 20 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition from two homes in southwestern Saskatchewan.

RCMP say shotguns, rifles and semi-automatic weapons were among the firearms seized at home in the city and another residence in the nearby community of Simmie. The search also turned up 90 grams of marijuana.

Mounties executed the search warrants last weekend after receiving allegations that someone uttered threats in Shaunavon.

Vincent Hurl, 40, is charged with three counts of unsafe storage of firearms, one count of uttering threats and one count of possession of marijuana.

He was released on conditions and is scheduled to return to court April 25 in Swift Current.
