Saskatchewan Health Minister Dustin Duncan was on hand Friday for the opening of a new 72-bed health care facility in Maple Creek.

The province put more than 36 million dollars towards the Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility -- representing 80 per cent of the total cost -- while local funding covered the rest.

The new facility will provide acute and emergency care services, as well as long-term care.

It's equipped with 48 long-term care beds and 24 acute care beds and replaces the Maple Creek Hospital and a nursing home.
