The owner of a roofing company in Yorkton has been fined more than $23,000 for a workplace safety violation that resulted in the death of a worker.

Mike Molnar pleaded guilty to one charge under Saskatchewan’s occupational health and safety regulations in Yorkton provincial court last week.

In January 2012, a worker employed by Molnar fell from a ladder while trying to get onto a roof. The worker later died of injuries from the fall.

Molnar was charged with failing to ensure that the work site was properly supervised. Four other charges against him were stayed.
