The latest numbers show home construction picked up in Saskatchewan last month.

The seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts in the province increased to 4,617 units in July from 4,367 in the previous month, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. said Wednesday.

The annual pace of home starts in Regina rose to 2,179 units last month from 2,003 in June, while housing starts in Saskatoon increased to 2,167 units from 2,028 in the same period.

The pace of home construction in Canada ramped up for a seventh consecutive month in July, mainly due to increased building activity in B.C. and Alberta.
