Some parents of students at Connaught school in Regina want the building temporarily repaired so their children don’t have to be bused to other schools across the city.
Dozens of parents crammed into the gymnasium of the century-old school as school board officials outlined potential options at a public meeting Tuesday night.
Parents who spoke at the meeting were nearly unanimous in rejecting plans that would see kids bused long distances to other elementary schools.
Others called for temporary repairs to Connaught, to buy more time for a long-term solution.
An engineer’s report released earlier this month raised structural concerns with the deteriorating building, and recommends the closure of the school in June.
