Law enforcement officials in Regina and the U.S. have charged three B.C. men in an alleged drug smuggling ring after police seized more than $2 million worth of cocaine and ecstasy.

The charges come after a six-month investigation by RCMP and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.

The investigation centered on the importation of large quantities of illegal drugs that were allegedly being imported into Canada and exported into the U.S. via unmanned border crossings in rural southern Saskatchewan.

Authorities allege cocaine was destined for B.C., while mass quantities of ecstacy were destined for the U.S. Pacific Northwest. They allege the drugs would then be distributed to communities across western North America.

Police searches at two homes in B.C. turned up 30 kilograms of cocaine and 100 tablets of ecstasy, along with $3,500 in cash and six unregistered firearms.

RCMP say 25-year-old Brock Ernest Palfrey from Silverstar, B.C., 50-year-old William Bruce Larsen from Coldstream, B.C. and 28-year-old Ronald Charles Learning from Golden B.C. are charged with conspiracy to import cocaine and to export ecstasy.

Palfrey and Larsen are set to appear in court in Regina on Monday afternoon, while Learning appeared in a Vernon, B.C. courtroom this morning.

Mounties say more charges are expected.
