The Board of Police Commissioners discussed critical incident stress management at its monthly meeting on Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Hans Larsen talked about members of the Regina Police Service assisting the community of La Loche after the school shooting in January of 2016, along with helping local hockey teams in the wake of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.

Also, monthly crime statistics show an increase in auto thefts and sexual assault reports in the Queen City. There were 113 vehicles stolen this August, up from 88 last year. There were also 17 sexual assaults reported this month. Chief Evan Bray believes the number is rising because survivors are more comfortable reporting the crime.

Bray said a lot of the auto thefts in the city are related to drug addiction. Regina police will continue to work with their community partners to help people dealing with addictions.
