A petition calling for removal of the John A. Macdonald statue in downtown Regina is now in circulation.

A local group gathered at the statue on Monday afternoon to launch the petition.

They want to see the statue removed because of the former prime minister’s involvement in colonialism and the residential school system.

The event was hosted by Colonialism No More and the Saskatchewan Coalition Against Racism.
