Police have charged 16 people with trafficking prescription drugs in the Yorkton area.
The charges come after a six-month joint investigation by several RCMP detachments in the region. Mounties seized two pickup trucks, two SUVs and a car.
The following suspects are charged with drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime:
- Keitha Cote, 41, of Kamsack
- Antoine (Tony) Quewezance, 57, of Kamsack
- Melissa Quewezance, 28, of Kamsack
- James Ray, 49, of Pelly
- John (Jack) Shingoose, 60, of the Cote First Nation
- Gerald Papequash, 52, of the Cote First Nation
- Edna Badger, 46, of the Cote First Nation
- Wesley Whitehawk, 29, of the Cote First Nation
- Thomas Quewezance, 59, of the Keeseekoose First Nation
- Clarence Papequash, 58, of the Key First Nation
- Kimberly Anderson, 46, of Springside
- Phillip Wayne Langan, 42, of Yorkton
- Gurjit Singh Sembhi, 50, of Yorkton
- Chester Acoose, 46, of Yorkton
- Sidney Peepeetch, 66, of the Little Bone First Nation
- Ashley Peepeetch, 33, of the Little Bone First Nation
Court dates are set for Feb. 7 in Yorkton and Feb. 16 in Kamsack.
RCMP are continuing their investigation and expect to make further arrests in the next few days.
