Saskatchewan Party – Bill Stevenson

Bill Stevenson was nominated as the candidate for Regina Elphinstone-Centre on March 2, 2011.

Bill is a member of the Cowessess First Nation and he has lived much of his life in Regina. He has called Regina Elphinstone-Centre home for the last 15 years.

Bill is an active member of the community and has worked in North Central Regina for various organizations such as the Indian Métis Christian Fellowship Centre, Morning Star Ministries as well as the All Nations Hope AIDS Network, planning many events, programs and projects that support a variety of individuals in the community.

Bill is a strong supporter of education and after achieving his own general education development (GED) certificate in 2005 he continued on to accomplish a bachelor of human justice from the University of Regina. Currently, he is working on furthering his own education by working on a masters of justice from the U of R.

Bill wants to continue to serve his community in a positive manner and show that people can rise above their circumstances if they have strong focus, goals, and determination.

He currently works at the Cowessess First Nations urban office in Regina as the coordinator of urban programs and services.

Warren McCall

NDP – Warren McCall

Warren McCall is proud to call North Central Regina home. It is the neighbourhood where he was born and raised, and is the largest community in Regina Elphinstone-Centre.

First elected in a February 2001 by-election, McCall has subsequently been returned to the Legislative Assembly by the people of Elphinstone-Centre in the 2003 and 2007 general elections.

He says he is proud of the fact that he has been voted "Best Regina MLA" for each of the past four years by the readers of Regina's Prairie Dog Newsmagazine.

In the Lorne Calvert NDP government, McCall served in a variety of roles, most notably as minister of advanced education and employment, and as minister of corrections and public safety.

He chaired a review of accessibility and affordability of post-secondary education in Saskatchewan. He also served as deputy whip, deputy caucus chair, chair of the Crown Corporations Committee, chair of the Standing Committee on the Economy, in addition to membership on several committees of the assembly.

McCall holds a Bachelor of Arts in Canadian History from the University of Regina. From 1997 to 2001, he worked for veteran New Democratic Party Member of Parliament Lorne Nystrom in Ottawa and Regina.

McCall has put his beliefs into action as a long-time credit union/co-operative member, and as a labour activist. As both player and coach, McCall has enjoyed sports such as water polo, hockey and softball. He says he strives to be a good neighbour.

He volunteers for a number of organizations and community events, including Habitat for Humanity, the Regina Folk Festival, the Cathedral Village Arts Festival, the Albert Library Community Council, the Canadian Blood Service, the CIBC Run for the Cure, and the North Central Community Association.

Ingrid Alesich

Green Party – Ingrid Alesich

Ingrid Alesich holds a degree in environmental sciences and ecology, and bachelor of education. She has taught adults for 28 years in academics and English as a foreign language.

Alesich is a long-time activist in a variety of issues, including nuclear power, climate change, renewable energy and recycling. She is also involved with several boards and committees.

Alesich has published articles and poems, in addition to researching and editing others' books and environmental reports. She also made a movie called "The Nature of Love."

She enjoys the Festival of Words, Globe Theatre, movies, camping, bird watching and the wilderness.
