With 65 dogs and 160 cats in need of a home this holiday season, the Regina Humane Society held their annual “Paws for the season” open house.

The event gives Regina and area families the chance to visit the humane society and potentially take home a new member of the family.

While their numbers aren’t as high as the summer months, the humane society’s Don Simon’s says this year’s numbers are higher than usual and they’re hoping to adopt 100 animals in December.

The holiday season comes with plenty of holidays, and Simons said it’s a great time to adopt an animal because it gives new owners a chance to train and bond with their new family members.
