A Regina man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to extort three young women with intimate photos of them.
Police say the women met a man through a social media site who said he was an agent looking for models for an adult-only website.
He asked the three women, ages 19 to 21, to send photos of themselves for use on the website, and they did. However, the women later changed their minds and backed out of the arrangement.
Between October and February, the women received text messages from a man, saying he had compromising photos of them.
He told the victims that if they didn’t send more intimate photos or videos of themselves, he would send the images to their family and friends.
The women reported the incidents to police and a 26-year-old man was later arrested.
Johnathan Andrew Tokar of Regina has been charged with three counts of extortion. He made his first court appearance Thursday.
