Friends and family are mourning the loss of a Regina man killed by an alleged impaired driver in a crash north of the city.

RCMP say two pickup trucks collided on a gravel road extending from Pasqua Street, south of Zehner Road, on Sunday night.

A 37-year-old Regina man died at the scene. Police have not released the victim's name, but court documents identify him as Tanner Kaufmann.

The victim’s friend, David Limacher, told CTV News that Kaufmann was out walking his dog when the collision occurred. He said Kaufmann, who leaves behind a wife and young children, was a good friend and great father.

“You might not think that impaired driving is going to affect your life ever,” said Limacher. “But it does. It’s got to stop. It just has to stop.”

Colby Nicholas Heid, 19, of Regina appeared in court Tuesday on a charge of impaired driving causing death. His next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
