Regina police say a Taser was used during the arrest of a man, who is now facing charges, including kidnapping and assault with a weapon.

Officers responded to a report of a domestic assault in the 2100 block of East Turvey Road shortly before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

It’s alleged that a 25-year-old man assaulted and forcibly confined a woman.

Police say they located the man, who was holding a knife and threatening self-harm, on the nearby Ring Road. A Taser was deployed on the man during his arrest, police said.

Kelly Michael Baht, 25, is charged with assault with a weapon, kidnapping, threatening and possession of a dangerous weapon.

The use of the Taser will be reviewed by a use-of-force committee, in accordance with police policy.
