The City of Regina says a transit bus driver is back on the job after he was charged in a fatal pedestrian crash last fall.

In an emailed statement Wednesday, the city confirmed that Darcy Allen Kluge is currently working as a transit bus driver.

“We have confidence in this driver and in all of our drivers,” the statement read.

“We provided counselling and additional training for this driver and supported his gradual return to driving.”

Kluge, 46, was charged with driving without due care and attention after a Sept. 30 pedestrian collision that claimed the life of 80-year-old Louis Christomos Perentes.

The collision happened while Perentes was walking at the intersection of Parliament Avenue and Rae Street in the city’s south end. He suffered serious injuries and later died in hospital.

A lawyer appeared on behalf of Kluge in traffic court Wednesday morning, and the case was adjourned until Feb. 19.
