A Regina woman charged in the death of her toddler will soon learn when she will face a preliminary hearing.

Anna Marie Rose Wilkes is charged with manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death, indignity to a dead body and obstructing justice.

The 29-year-old made a brief appearance via video link in Regina Provincial Court on Tuesday.

Dates for the preliminary hearing are expected to be scheduled when Wilkes returns to court Aug. 24.

Police found the body of Wilkes' three-year-old son, Nylan Jordan George Clarke, in a van parked in the backyard of a home in the 200 block of Halifax Street in May.

The Crown alleges Wilkes tried to set the van on fire with the child's body inside, and that she failed to seek medical care that could have saved him. A judge denied Wilkes' request for bail earlier this month.

A second person accused in the death, 38-year-old Harley William Fraser Stueck, is set to make his next court appearance Aug. 9.
