A Regina woman accused of murder has been granted release on bail and will be living under strict conditions in the Fort Qu’Appelle area.
On Thursday, a Court of Queen’s Bench justice agreed to release Brianna Wesaquate on an undertaking with several conditions, including 24-hour house arrest and electronic monitoring.
The evidence presented at the hearing and the judge’s reasons for granting bail are under a publication ban.
Wesaquate, 29, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Cassandra Desjarlais last year.
In the early morning hours of Oct. 31, Regina police were called to the 700 block of Athol Street for a report of two women fighting in the street.
Officers found Desjarlais seriously injured and she was taken to hospital, where she died a short time later.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for March 31.
