A 19-year-old Regina woman accused of murder made her first court appearance Monday
Melanie Nicole Bird is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 37-year-old Heather Rae-Anne Lavallee of Regina.
Officers found Lavallee seriously injured in a house in the 1800 block of Atkinson Street shortly before 2 a.m. Friday.
She was rushed to hospital, where she later died. The death is Regina’s fourth homicide of the year.
Bird also faces a charge of attempted murder after a man in the home suffered minor injuries. She is scheduled to return to court April 29.
