Sask. premier sees rise in approval as new term begins, according to poll

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has seen a bump in his approval rating as his new term begins, according to a recent poll from Angus Reid.

Moe’s Saskatchewan Party won their fifth straight majority in the provincial election held on Oct. 28.

While the party now holds 14 fewer seats in the legislature, the poll shows Moe’s personal approval has actually risen.

Of those polled in Saskatchewan, 52 per cent approve of Moe as of December 2024, which is seven per cent higher than those polled in September 2024.

Moe’s approval rating peaked in both June of 2019 and June 2020 when it reached 65 per cent.

Recognizing the message sent by voters on election night, Moe said his government would strive to do better in its handling of healthcare and education.

Between Nov. 29 to Dec. 5, 2024, the Angus Reid Institute conducted an online survey among a randomized sample of 4,004 Canadians who are members of the Angus Reid forum.

In Saskatchewan, 349 people were polled. The margin of error for Saskatchewan was plus or minus five per cent.

Moe placed fourth among the provincial leaders included in the poll.

Ahead of him were newly elected New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt (54 per cent), recently re-elected Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston (55 per cent) and Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew (67 per cent).
