A former SaskTel employee stole more than 200 phones at a cost to the company of more than $180,000, according to the provincial government’s annual loss reports.
The reports, released Tuesday, highlight several thefts and losses to Saskatchewan’ Crown corporations, executive government and the Ministry of Health.
One report highlights an investigation into the SaskTel employee. The employee, who was suspended without pay and has since resigned, allegedly stole more than 200 phones and sold the phones to third parties.
The theft has been reported to police, but the phones have not yet been recovered.
Another report shows four portable heart monitors were stolen from Pasqua Hospital in Regina, which is about a $20,000 loss, and another report alleges a hospital employee in Lloydminster stole around $3,000.
Regina police have been notified of the heart-monitor thefts, and the employee in Lloydminster, who no longer works at the hospital, has since been charged.
