RCMP say the second suspect wanted in connection to an investigation into serious assaults that took place in Swift Current earlier this fall has been arrested.

Swift Current RCMP responded to a report of gun shots during an altercation on Oct. 25. RCMP then responded to another incident on Oct. 29 for a report that multiple people entered the home with a gun and assaulted two people inside.

Two men were wanted in connection to the incidents and warrants for their arrests were issued.

On Nov. 19, one of the men was arrested on his outstanding warrant in Alberta.

On Dec. 6, the second suspect, Matthew Neufeld, was located and arrested. He was wanted for multiple assault, robbery, and firearms related charges, an RCMP news release on Friday said.

Officers with Swift Current RCMP also found ammunition and other weapons at the time of his arrest, the release said.

He was additionally charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in Swift Current Provincial Court on Dec. 18.
