A teenager is in custody and security measures have been lifted after an online threat prompted two Regina high schools to lock their doors Monday.
Regina police say a student at Balfour Collegiate received the threat through social media.
As a precaution, both Balfour and Miller Comprehensive high schools were put under a “secure the building” mode, which means exterior doors are locked and monitored, but classes continue.
Officers stepped up patrols in the area as investigators worked to determine the identity of the person who sent the threat.
Around 2:30 p.m., police announced that the "secure the building" had been lifted at both schools and a 17-year-old boy was in custody.
Earlier Monday, crews responded to a fire at Campus Regina Public, formerly Cochrane High School.
Officials say an overheated cleaning machine sparked the fire, which caused smoke damage to the facility.
Classes were cancelled for the day while the building was being aired out and cleaned.
