A sentencing hearing is underway in Regina for one of two teenaged boys convicted in the killing of Hannah Leflar.
The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder earlier this year.
The Crown is asking that the boy be sentenced as an adult, while the defence is arguing for a lighter sentence, with a focus on rehabilitation.
Leflar, 16, was found dead in her Regina home in January 2015.
A second teenaged boy, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder earlier this year, is expected to be sentenced in September. He originally faced a charge of first-degree murder.
