A 20-year-old man has been killed in a snowmobiling accident near Nipawin.

The accident happened just off of Cherry Ridge Road, south of White Fox, on Friday night.

The man was treated for life-threatening injuries when an ambulance arrived on scene, and was transported to Nipawin hospital. He later died.

RCMP say the man's name will not be released at the request of his family.

Speed and improper equipment are believed to be contributing factors in the accident. Snowmobile trails in the area are not fully marked at this time because of a lack of snow.
