Ham, turkey and mashed potatoes were just a few of the items offered during a free Christmas supper offered to Regina’s needy on Dec. 22.

Soul’s Harbour Rescue Mission provided more than 200 meals at Zeike’s Place Gymnasium between 11:30 AM and 2 PM.

Along with the meal, Christmas stockings and Urban Barn blankets were handed out. More than 300 women's stockings, 180 men's stockings and almost 200 children's toys filled with toiletries, gift cards and goodies.

75 volunteers donated their time to serve the meal. Among them were Regina mayor Michael Fougere, MLA Warren McCall, a Saskatchewan Roughrider and Gainer the Gopherl.

"It's been overwhelming, I have to say. I don't know if I remember a holiday in as long as I've been doing this that we had such a strong response from the community," said Rebecca Cochrane of Soul's Harbour Rescue Mission.

Soul's Harbour has been providing a free Christmas supper for more than 10 years.
