Two communities in the Qu'Appelle Valley have declared states of emergency as floodwaters continue to rise.

The district of Katepwa and the nearby village of B-Say-Tah are bracing for the worst flooding since 1974.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority is now predicting water levels on lakes in the Qu'Appelle Valley could rise more than two metres within the week.

A deluge of water has left many homes in the Crooked Lake area inaccessible.

Many residents in the valley were sandbagging their homes and cottages over the weekend in an effort to keep the water at bay.
