The family of a 13-year-old Estevan girl who took her own life says the teen was bullied to death.

Aermis Kolke killed herself last weekend. Her cousin Michaela Smith says the girl's death was the result of relentless bullying by her peers.

Hundreds of people have joined a Facebook page dedicated to the teen's memory, where they posted tributes and spoke out against bullying.

Kolke's friends and classmates at Westview School in Estevan are wearing pink shirts today as part of a national anti-bullying campaign.

The Cornerstone School Division won't speculate on what caused Kolke to take her own life, but says bullying is a serious problem for students, and that staff are trained to deal with it.

Friends and family say they hope lessons can be learned from the tragedy that has shaken the community.
