The Saskatchewan government has granted a temporary reprieve for a Regina family’s exotic cat.

The African serval, named Jagger, is living with the Shaheen family. Conservation officers declared the cat a wild animal and gave the owners until the end of the month to remove it from the province.

The family refused to part with their pet and said they would move with it.

On Wednesday, Environment Minister Ken Chevedayoff said the pet can stay while officials review provincial wildlife laws.
