Three charged after Regina police officer assaulted during break and enter investigation

Three people are facing a lengthy list of charges after a break and enter investigation led to a Regina police officer being assaulted Tuesday night.
According to a Regina police news release, officers were called to the 1100 block of Cameron Street around 8 p.m. for the report of a break and enter where three suspects were seen attempting to enter a house through a window before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
The release says officers located the suspect vehicle travelling south on Cameron Street and pulled it over.
“As officers approached the vehicle, the driver exited and attempted to evade on foot. Despite several commands to stop, the suspect did not comply and swung at the arresting officer. A struggle ensued, leading the officer to sustain a wrist injury,” the release said.
Police said a loaded gun was also found inside the vehicle.
As a result, a 24-year-old man, 41 -year-old man and 33-year-old woman are facing a combined total of 18 charges including resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer and possession of a loaded or restricted firearm.
All three accused made their first court appearances on Dec. 11, according to Regina police.
