RCMP in Regina have charged three Quebec men in an alleged payment card forgery operation after two point-of-sale terminals were swapped earlier this month.

On Aug. 8, three men swapped a point-of-sale terminal while a cashier's back was turned at a restaurant in Davidson.

Their activity aroused the suspicion of another employee. After checking the terminal, she realized it had been replaced with one that was inoperable. A similar terminal was also swapped in Lumsden.

Mounties say the fraudulent terminals are designed to steal debit and credit card information.

Last Friday, police arrested three men from the Montreal area after executing a search warrant at a home in Regina.

Officers seized electronics, computer devices and tools and equipment used to forge payment cards.

Jean-Francois Desgroseilliers-Cummings, 30, Toufic Abboud, 30, and 31-year-old Maad Chabbi are facing several charges, including identity theft and possession of equipment to forge credit cards.

RCMP are continuing their investigation. At this point, it isn't known how many consumers had their debit or credit card information stolen.

The three men are set to appear in court in Regina on Wednesday.
