A tornado warning that was issued for parts of southern Saskatchewan on Friday evening has been lifted.

Environment Canada issued the warning at 7 p.m. for the rural municipalities of Francis and Indian Head, as well as the nearby communities of Vibank, Sedley, Odessa, Indian Head and Sintaluta.

The Rural Municipality of Montmartre, including the Assiniboine Reservoir, was also under the tornado warning until it ended.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also in effect for the RM of Chester, including Windthorst, Glenavon and Peebles, the RM of Elcapo, including Broadview and Cowessess, and the RM of Kinglsey, including Kipling.

Severe thunderstorm watches were also issued across much of southern Saskatchewan, including Regina.

The storm left a blanket of pea-sized hail on the field at Mosaic Stadium, where the Saskatchewan Roughriders took on the Calgary Stampeders in the final preseason game of the year for both clubs.
