Two people were taken to hospital after an ATV rollover in northern Saskatchewan.

RCMP say a man and a woman were driving an ATV on a trail Sunday in La Loche when a malfunction caused the front wheels to lock.

Both riders were thrown over the handlebars and were taken to hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries.

Both of the injured riders are 37-year-old residents of La Loche. Neither was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Mounties said.

Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the crash and police said charges are not being considered.
