Two teens have been charged with attempted murder after a 16-year-old girl was assaulted on Monday morning.
Police saw the injured girl around 11:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of Sixth Avenue. The teen was taken to hospital.
Officers say the teen got into a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old boy, unaware that a 17-year-old girl was in the back seat. Investigators say the girl was restrained and assaulted with a knife before she was able to free herself from the vehicle.
The 17-year-old girl and the 16-year-old boy were arrested at a home on Stewart Avenue.
Both teens have been charged with attempted murder and forcible confinement, and the 17-year-old girl has been charged with uttering threats. Neither can be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The teens made their first court appearance on Tuesday morning.
