A 12-member jury has reached a verdict in the Goforth trial Saturday.

Tammy Goforth has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of a four-year-old girl in her care in 2012.

Kevin Goforth, her partner, was not found guilty of second-degree murder but guilty of manslaughter in the girl’s death.

In July 2012, the four-year-old girl was taken to Regina General Hospital, where she later died. Court heard the girl, who was malnourished and dehydrated, died of a brain injury after she went into cardiac arrest.

The jury of six men and six women began deliberations Friday afternoon. More than 24 hours later the jury reached their verdict.
