Statistics Canada says the rate of violence against women in Saskatchewan is double the national average.
The latest numbers show more than half of the roughly 20,000 victims of violent crime in the province in 2011 were women.
Nationally, the rate of violent crime against women was about five per cent higher than the rate for men.
The report found women were 11 times more likely than men to be a victim of sexual offences.
