A Regina man stabbed and killed his brother in the midst of a fistfight, a witness testified at his murder trial.

Steven Pascal is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his brother, 22-year-old Trent Pascal of Regina.

On Wednesday, 19-year-old Dakota Cochrane testified he was on the 900 block of Athol Street the night Trent Pascal died.

He corroborated pervious witness testimony that Trent was chasing Steven down the street, armed with a weapon. However, unlike other witnesses, Cochrane says he saw how the dispute ended.

When the victim caught up to the accused, Trent dropped his weapon on the ground, and they got into fistfight in the middle of the street, Cochrane said.

As Trent was landing blows, Cochrane says he saw Steven draw a large hunting knife and stab his brother. Trent later died in hospital.

Cochrane is expected to return to the stand for cross-examination Thursday.
