A 55-year-old woman is dead after a vehicle rollover northeast of Regina.

An RCMP officer found the vehicle partially submerged in a slough along Highway 15 near Fenwood early Friday afternoon.

The officer dove into the water and pulled the driver from the vehicle. Bystanders began attempts to resuscitate the woman while the Mountie searched the vehicle to ensure no one else was inside.

The woman was taken to St. Peter's hospital in Melville hospital, where she later died. Her name has not been released.

RCMP say it isn't clear why the vehicle lost control and rolled over. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
