Redistribution

Cypress Hills-Grasslands adds a modestly wide strip from the south of Battlefords-Lloydminster to its northwest border, containing Kindersley and two reserves. Saskatoon-Humboldt adds to its southwest, both a part of Saskatoon—Rosetown—Biggar plus a small part of northeast Cypress Hills—Grassland attached to it. On its southeast border, Cypress Hills-Grasslands takes a block in the centre of its east border from Palliser. It has Caronport in the north, south to Mossbank.

Electoral History

The riding evolved from Swift Current-Maple Creek which had Liberal Irwin Studer from 1953 to 1958. It has been right-wing since. It was PC in 1958 with Jack McIntosh until 1972, then Frank Hamilton until 1984. It became Swift-Current—Maple Creek-Assiniboine and was held by PC Geoff Wilson until 1993 when he lost to Lee Morrison of Reform. Morrison held only a term and in 1997 he retired when the present riding was formed. David L. Anderson won for Alliance and then for the Tories in 2004 and 2006 with huge majorities. For the 2006 vote it gained 1,800 people from Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar. Anderson won by a big margin then, and again in 2008 and 2011.
