Parents are demanding answers after the Regina Optimist Dolphin Swim Club became entangled in a police investigation.
More than a dozen parents gathered behind closed doors Thursday evening to voice their concerns about recent decisions made by the club leadership.
Earlier this week, CTV News learned that a Regina police officer obtained security camera footage from the Cornwall Centre to help identify the parent of one of the swim club's members.
She and her two children were later expelled from the organization after the video revealed she had sent an anonymous fax to the club's auditor.
That police officer is now on administrative leave, pending further investigation into the incident.
Parents say the swim club is facing a public relations crisis.
After meeting for an hour and a half, parents decided to ask the board of directors for an immediate, emergency meeting to discuss the situation and ongoing concerns about the treatment of members.
A club representative declined to comment, but CTV News has obtained an email sent to members of the swim team.
“There is a small but vocal faction within the membership who seem intent on destroying the club and our governance structure through a number of tactics, including the cowardly act of anonymously making false allegations without having the courage to put their names behind these spurious accusations,” part of the email reads.
“Specifically, with respect to our finances, the board has always responded to any forthright and direct inquiries from our membership in a timely manner. Our books are subject to third party oversight through an annual audit process.”
The club says in the email that it’s confident the audit will show there are no financial improprieties or concerns.
