Regina Crime Stoppers received a total of 832 tips in 2024, many of which pertained to drug related crimes.

Seventeen per cent pertained to property related crimes such as theft, mischief and break and enters. Another seven per cent of tips were for wanted criminals, six per cent for traffic crimes, five per cent for violent crimes such as murders and assaults and five per cent for weapons related offences.

A total of 38 per cent of tips were in regard to other matters not listed above.

"The numbers are fantastic and we're thankful for every tip we get. It's nice to see people actively involved in trying to make their community a safer place," said Kevin Bissendowski, the president of Regina Crime Stoppers.

Chief Farook Sheikh of the Regina Police Service (RPS) said the public's use of the program shows people are willing to take action against crime in the city when given the opportunity.

"Credit to the community of Regina. People feel safer to come forward and share information. I think that's had a positive impact solving crime," Sheikh explained.

There was $12,930 worth of rewards approved, $7,500 worth of property recovered and another $7,500 worth of property, cash and drugs recovered, the release said.

"Only nine of those rewards were paid out, leaving over $10,000 of the reward money unclaimed. Tipsters may call the 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) line, or they can check the status of their tip online at P3TIPS.com," the release said.

In 2023, 771 tips were received and $6,375 worth of rewards approved.
