A 27-year-old Regina man is facing several charges after he was found to be in possession of a gun and drug trafficking items.

Officers were called to a residence in the zero block of Pine Place around 4 p.m. on Dec. 27 for reports of a weapons offence, according to a news release from the Regina Police Service (RPS).

Police said they received information that a man inside might have access to a gun. When officers arrived at the scene, they arrested him without incident.

Officers found a modified airsoft gun, ammunition, a conducted energy weapon, items consistent with drug trafficking, and ID not belonging to the suspect, police said.

The man was charged with possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of an identity document, and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

He made his first court appearance on Monday morning.
