A 66-year-old Regina man charged with sexual assault of a minor, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching had his charges stayed on Tuesday after the Crown withdrew its case.

Edwin Dwight Woolhether was named in a Regina Police Service news release in July 2022 regarding allegations of the sexual assault of a child that was said to have taken place in 2007.

Police said they were made aware of the charges in June 2022.

Woolhether was arrested in April of 2023 and made his first court appearance in June that year.

Crown prosecutor Chris White stayed all three charges of the indictment before the court, ceasing proceedings.
