Regina man previously wanted on Canada's Most Wanted list makes first court appearance

Twenty-two-year-old Reshuan Norman Cote stood in the prisoner’s box as he made his very first court appearance for his involvement in a homicide last year.

Cote is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Everett Wolfe Roberts-Orr.

Roberts-Orr died after police responded to a weapons offence on the 4800 block of Sherwood Drive just before 2 p.m., on May 12, 2024.

It was reported that a man was found lying on a driveway in the area after being shot.

Roberts-Orr was taken to hospital where he later died.

Two suspects were taken into custody shortly after the killing. However, the search for Cote took several months.

Cote was placed on Canada’s Top 25 Most Wanted List about five weeks ago according to police, through a program known as "Be On The Lookout," also referred to as "BOLO."

Cote was arrested on Jan. 7.

"You know our hope is that the BOLO program did play a part, but we'll never truly know," said Deputy Chief Trent Stevely of the Regina Police Service (RPS).

"I can say with confidence that he wasn't I custody prior to being added to the program. Now he is safely in custody. You can draw whatever conclusion you want, but it's a great relationship with BOLO and a good result."

Cote is not the only Regina suspect who has been placed on the wanted list.

"Juma" Daniel Drie Atem remains at large for his alleged involved in a homicide that took place in July of 2023 – which saw 32-year-old Roman Miller die outside of a downtown business after he was shot.

There is a $50,000 reward for any information relating to Atem’s arrest.

"There’s an expiry date on that. The assessment committee will then reassess the Top 25 list," said Stevely.

"They’re always assessing and regrouping and putting timelines on. They may up the value, they may remove the value."

During court Thursday, Cote’s defence stated the accused is involved in other matters and requested the case be adjourned to figure out whether Cote already has other counsel.
