RCMP has charged a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash over the weekend.

Police received a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian around 12:18 a.m. on Sunday. When they arrived on scene, the found the 57-year-old man from the Sakimay First Nation, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have since arrested Kip Acoose, also from the Sakimay First Nation and charged him with one count of failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving death.

Acoose is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

The Sakimay First Nation is about 140 kilometres east of Regina.
