The Regina Police Service (RPS) has charged a suspect in connection to a dog attack that seriously injured a woman back in August.

On Aug. 19, police were dispatched to the area of 3rd Avenue and Cameron Street to investigate a reported dog attack.

A woman was reportedly walking her dogs when she was chased by two other dogs and attacked.

The attack resulted in the woman suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

RPS reported at the time that a man and a woman led the dogs away but did not return to the woman who was attacked.

The victim had called for help and nearby city workers called 911.

An investigation led police to the owner of the canines, which were seized because of the incident on Aug. 29. At the time, police said the investigation was ongoing and that it was unclear if charges would be laid.

On Monday, RPS confirmed that a single charge had been laid.

A 47-year-old man from Regina faces one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

He is scheduled to make his first appearance in provincial court on Jan. 3.
