Roughriders sign newly acquired QB Jake Maier
The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced they have signed quarterback Jake Maier, who they acquired via trade with the Calgary Stampeders in December.
Maier made 45 starts with the Stampeders in four seasons completing over 1,000 passes for 60 touchdowns along with 60 carries for 232 yards and five more touchdowns.
Maier was eligible to become a free agent in February.
The Riders sent their eighth-round selection in the 2025 CFL Draft to get Maier.
In 2024, Maier made 357 passes for 3,841 yards and 22 touchdowns, both stats ranked third best in the CFL.
His completion rate was over 72 per cent, Maier also recorded four 300 plus yard passing games including 373 yards in Week 10 of the regular season.
Maier is expected to speak with the media on Friday afternoon. The length and terms of the deal were not included in a news release issued by the Riders on Thursday.
The 2025 CFL schedule is expected to be released sometime in January.
