The City of Regina has a new fire chief, 20 year veteran member Layne Jackson.
Jackson's appointment was announced at a news conference on Tuesday.
Jackson has served in a number of roles with Regina Fire and Protective Services over the last two decades, including eight years as deputy chief.
“I am honoured to continue in my role as Chief, Regina Fire & Protective Services, on a permanent basis,” Jackson said in a written release. “I have the highest respect for Regina firefighters. They are dedicated, highly trained community professionals that Regina residents rely on daily.”
Jackson was appointed acting director for the fire department back in March after former Chief Ernie Polsom was suddenly removed from his post. A national search was launched to replace him.
